The Ministry of Culture has announced the artistic team for Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025, scheduled to take place from November 2025 to April 2026. This fourth edition of Thailand Biennale will explore the theme “Niranthara” (Eternal Kalpa), focusing on the sustainable relationship between humans and nature. Artistic directors for this edition are Arin Rungjang, a 2020 Silpathorn Award recipient and one of Thailand’s representatives at the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013, and Associate Professor David Teh from the National University of Singapore, known for his extensive writings on contemporary art in Thailand and Asia. The curatorial team includes experienced veteran Marisa Pantiratshudi and Hera Chan. KAWS:HOLIDAY 11th – Shanghai
‘KAWS:HOLIDAY’ returns with its world tour, following last year’s visit to Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Indonesia. This year, the 11th destination is Shanghai North Bund, a hot tourist spot in Shanghai, China. Thailand Soft Power Art Panel announces updated roster, Still no national artists included
The Thailand Soft Power Art Panel has released its list of members, which now includes a new sub-committee on performing arts. The chairman of the committee is Seksiri Kunavong, a prominent art collector and CEO. He is the founder of CM Organizer, the Bangkok Sculpture Center, and has opened his own home as a museum (the Seksiri Kunavong House Museum). It is interesting to note that the list of committee members,still, does not include any Thailand’s National Artists, but it does include two Silpathorn Artists: Natee Utarit and Pichet Klunchun. How “art” will be driven as a Soft Power of the country under this mega-project is a critical question. ART SG 2024 Review: Fighting against the rope
The ART SG event is Singapore’s flagship art fair, and this year marks its second edition. Taking place from January 19 to 21, 2024, at Marina Bay Sands, it is one of the highlights of the Singapore Art Week, happening from January 19 to 28, 2024. The event format this year differs slightly from the previous one (you can see a review of ART SG 2023 in the clip). The New & Now section, which used to feature artworks priced below $10,000, has been canceled. Additionally, the Reframe has transformed into the “Digital Spotlight” badge, awarded to exhibitors who distinctively integrate art and technology in a spectacular manner.
