ART SG 2024 Review: Fighting against the rope
The ART SG event is Singapore’s flagship art fair, and this year marks its second edition. Taking place from January 19 to 21, 2024, at Marina Bay Sands, it is one of the highlights of the Singapore Art Week, happening from January 19 to 28, 2024. The event format this year differs slightly from the previous one (you can see a review of ART SG 2023 in the clip). The New & Now section, which used to feature artworks priced below $10,000, has been canceled. Additionally, the Reframe has transformed into the “Digital Spotlight” badge, awarded to exhibitors who distinctively integrate art and technology in a spectacular manner. “Yakishime ยากิชิเมะ: ปั้นดิน เปลี่ยนโลก” นิทรรศการที่จะพาเราไปรู้จักกับศิลปวัฒนธรรมญี่ปุ่นในแง่มุมต่างๆ ผ่าน “ยากิชิเมะ” เครื่องปั้นดินเผาดั้งเดิมที่เริ่มได้รับความนิยมอย่างมากประมาณ 800 กว่าปีที่แล้ว โดยใช้เทคนิคการทำแบบปราศจากการเคลือบ แต่แทนด้วยการเผาแบบอุณหภูมิสูงประมาณ 1200 - 1300 องศา เพื่อให้ดินเหนียวจับตัวกันจนแน่นจนเกิดปรากฏการณ์ที่เรียกว่า “ยากิชิเมรุ” หรือ ทำให้เป็นแก้วนั่นเอง

Retrospective: Celebrating 70 Years of Liu Kuo-Sung’s Artistic Journey In this extraordinary exhibition titled “Liu Kuo-Sung: Experimentation as Method,” Liu Kuo-Sung, one of the foremost contemporary Chinese ink painters, showcases a comprehensive collection of his artworks spanning 70 years. The exhibition features astonishing display of over 150 pieces, including 60 ink paintings and various personal artifacts, all meticulously curated to trace Liu Kuo-Sung’s artistic journey. Yansong Ma and his MAD Architects team were invited to create their installation at the luxury mixed-use complex, Wynn Palace, which hosted the "Garden of Earthly Delights" exhibition as part of Art Macao 2019. The exhibition drew inspiration from and was named after the painting by Renaissance artist Hieronymus Bosch. The artworks in the exhibition explored the concept of "space," with Ma being the only artist to use the outdoor space of this luxury complex as his canvas.

The exhibition “The Garden of Earthly Delights” at Wynn Palace Macao was one of the highlights in Art Macao 2019, the first edition of its international art exhibition took over 33 museums and landmarks across Macao during five months from June – October 2019.
