Joining them is Kaikai Kiki Gallery (Tokyo), led by Takashi Murakami, the pioneer of Superflat art, who has remained a participant since first joining ART SG in 2024.
PLATFORM: A Creative Space for Artists
The PLATFORM section at ART SG serves as a dedicated showcase for the works of prominent artists, with installations featured throughout the fair. This year’s featured artists in these following.
The installation work Moon Ensō (Engessō 円⽉相) (2024) by Japanese-American artist Miya Ando features 29 printed chiffon panels, representing the lunar orbit over 29 days, based on her indigo-painted series Moon Almanac. Created during the COVID-19 lockdown in New York City, these works were presented by Sundaram Tagore Gallery (New York, Singapore, UK).
The Lands Below the Winds (2024) by Singaporean artist Khairulddin Wahab is an art installation composed of three paintings on canvas, blending narratives of geography, maritime history, and the complex role of water as both a life-giving and destructive force (similar to the Taoist philosophy of Laozi). The artwork also delves into the sea’s dual role as both a barrier and a gateway to the broader world. It is presented by Cuturi Gallery (Singapore, UK).
Singaporean artist Shavonne Wong presents Meet Eva Here (2024), an interactive art piece using an AI chatbot that allows viewers to converse with a three-dimensional AI entity. This experimental artwork reflects societal perspectives on artificial intelligence and human relationships. Responses from the AI are uploaded to Instagram Stories, creating a unique social experience. Presented by The Columns Gallery (South Korea, Singapore).
Promenade Chambord (2022) by Argentinian-French artist Pablo Reinoso is part of his renowned ‘Spaghetti Bench’ series, which transforms ordinary public benches into expressive sculptures while retaining their functional essence. Reinoso’s sculptures are displayed at notable public locations such as Société des Amis du MNAM, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Fonds national d’art contemporain, Paris; Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris; Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, Argentina and Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo. This piece is presented by Waddington Custot (UK).
