Thailand Soft Power Art Panel announces updated roster, Still no national artists included

The Thailand Soft Power Art Panel has released its list of members, which now includes a new sub-committee on performing arts. The chairman of the committee is Seksiri Kunavong, a prominent art collector and CEO. He is the founder of CM Organizer, the Bangkok Sculpture Center, and has opened his own home as a museum (the Seksiri Kunavong House Museum). It is interesting to note that the list of committee members,still, does not include any Thailand’s National Artists, but it does include two Silpathorn Artists: Natee Utarit and Pichet Klunchun. How “art” will be driven as a Soft Power of the country under this mega-project is a critical question. And who will be the members of the National Arts Council of Thailand, which is to be established under this plan (with a budget of 20 million Baht – according to Rocket Media Lab, citing documents from the committee’s meeting 2/2566).…
