Angelina Jolie Takes Over Basquiat’s Former Studio in New York

Angelina Jolie has signed a long-term lease for a building that used to be the studio of two art world superstars , Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, for a period of 8 years to preserve art and utilize the space for her new creative business the “Atelier Jolie.” The building is located at 57 Great Jones Street in New York, which Warhol originally purchased in 1970. When Basquiat met him, he asked to rent the second floor to live and create his art from 1983 until the end of his life in 1988. The building has three floors and approximately 613 square meters of space. The front façade features graffiti artwork by anonymous artists.
