“Banksy’s First Exhibition in 14 Years since 2009”
The Cut & Run exhibition is an officially authorized exhibition by Banksy, showcasing his artworks from the past 25 years. It is also a comprehensive solo presentation of his works in the past 14 years since 2009.”
After opening to the public yesterday, online tickets are now sold out for the next two weeks. Those who wish to visit must queue starting from 8 a.m. in front of at the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (GOMA) in Scotland.
Highlight and Why GOMA?
The exhibition features various personal artifacts and stencils, that have never been shown anywhere before. Many of them are used to create Banksy’s famous artworks. This provides insights into the origins and creative process behind Banksy’s renowned artworks. Additionally, the highlights also includes the design of self-destructing mechanism for “Girl with Balloon” (2006), which gained significant attention when it was auctioned at Sotheby’s London in 2018.
Banksy chose GOMA as the venue for this exhibition because he was impressed by the Duke of Wellington statue located in front of the gallery. People often put traffic cones on the statue’s head. Regardless of how many times the police remove them, next morning, a new cone appears. For the past 40 years, the Duke has had a cone placed on his head by the public.
Cut & Run exhibition will hold until 28 August 2023.
