Art Basel Paris 2025 Draws Record 73,000 Visitors, Up 12.3 Percent from Last Year

Attendance Continues to Rise in the Fair’s Second Year

Art Basel Paris 2025, held at the Grand Palais in Paris from October 24 to 26, 2025, recorded more than 73,000 visitors — an increase of 12.3% from last year’s attendance of approximately 65,000. This steady growth reflects Paris’s strengthening position as a global art hub. The fair featured 206 galleries from 41 countries, ranging from blue-chip to emerging spaces, offering collectors a wide selection of artworks across styles and price levels.

Strong Market Sales Across Generations of Artists

According to the official report, significant sales were recorded across all market segments, including major works by Gerhard Richter, Amedeo Modigliani, Julie Mehretu, and Leiko Ikemura. Historic female artists such as Marie Bracquemond and modern Asian voices like Lee ShinJa also drew strong interest from international collectors.

Emerging artists such as Yu Nishimura and Özgür Kar also garnered positive responses from younger collectors, signaling a growing interest in new voices within Europe’s contemporary art market.

Support from Government and Fashion Industry

Among the visitors were key French figures including President Emmanuel Macron, First Lady Brigitte Macron, and Minister of Culture Rachida Dati. Fashion house Miu Miu continued its partnership as the official sponsor of the fair’s Public Program for the second consecutive year.

More than 240 museum representatives from institutions worldwide—including the Centre Pompidou, Tate, Guggenheim, MoMA, and The Met—visited the fair, reinforcing Paris’s role as a central meeting point for the international art community.

New Director Appointed to Lead the Next Chapter

During the fair week, Art Basel announced the appointment of Karim Crippa as the new Director of Art Basel Paris, effective November 1, 2025. Crippa will lead the show’s future development and strengthen collaboration with both public and private sectors.

Art Basel Paris 2026 will return to the Grand Palais from October 23 to 25, 2026.
